Detailed program
DAY 1 | PARIS / REYKJAVIK – NORTHERN LIGHTS BY COACH
Flight on a regular Icelandair service to Reykjavik.
Arrival in Reykjavik. Transfer by regular shuttle to the Center Plaza Hotel.
Check-in to your standard double room.
Dinner at your leisure.
In the evening, witness the majestic Northern Lights dancing in the sky. If the skies are shy, you can try again for free as many times as needed until you catch a glimpse! Explore this phenomenon by visiting the Aurora Center – Northern Lights Exhibition in Reykjavik; admission is included in this tour! For many, seeing the Northern Lights is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. In Iceland, you have the best chances to see the lights when it’s dark outside, in areas with no cloud cover, and when solar activity is high. While some tourists attempt to spot the Northern Lights on their own, opting for a guided tour increases the likelihood of seeing them in Iceland. Instead of relying on luck, a team of experts assesses the weather conditions, monitors aurora forecasts, and finds the best spots to view the lights. This expertise truly pays off!
Please note that the success of this tour depends on solar activity, cloud cover, and weather conditions.
If you don’t see the Northern Lights during the tour, you will receive another ticket for a free tour, which can be used up to two years after the original tour date.
Overnight stay.
DAY 2 | THE TREASURES OF THE GOLDEN CIRCLE / NORTHERN LIGHTS BY BOAT
Breakfast at the hotel.
Discover the treasures of the Golden Circle: a journey of wonders.
Discover the classic landmarks of the Golden Circle in southern Iceland on this unforgettable day trip. The Golden Circle encompasses the must-see sites of Þingvellir National Park, the golden waterfall of Gullfoss, and the bubbling geothermal area of Geysir.
If you ask a local which tour you should take to get a taste of Iceland near Reykjavík, they will most likely recommend the Golden Circle. Featuring the three most visited sites in southern Iceland, the Golden Circle offers you a glimpse into Icelandic history at Þingvellir National Park, a view of Iceland’s geothermal activity at Geysir, and a look at a powerful, roaring waterfall at Gullfoss. This tour is ideal for those who want to see the highlights but have limited time, as it lasts only 6.5 hours.
Departing from Reykjavík, guests will first visit the geothermal area of Geysir, a powerful reminder that Iceland is very much alive, with steam and water erupting several meters high from the Strokkur geyser every few minutes. This is where the word “geyser” originates! The tour continues to Gullfoss, Iceland’s most famous waterfall, where two tiers of water crash and tumble down several meters. Be sure to walk down the steps to get a different perspective of the waterfall!
The final stop is Þingvellir National Park, known for its exceptional beauty, geological significance, and historical relevance. Þingvellir is the birthplace of Icelandic democracy, as it is the site of the island’s first parliament. Additionally, visitors can experience the unique opportunity to see the meeting point of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates at Þingvellir, a truly Icelandic experience.
Lunch at your leisure.
In the evening, embark on a cruise in search of the incredible Northern Lights. Experience the captivating display of the auroras as they change color, intensity, and movement across the vast night sky, accompanied by the soothing rhythm of the ocean. Enjoy the comfort of our heated indoor areas, onboard café, and 360° observation deck for panoramic views. Our experienced Northern Lights guides will enhance your experience by providing insights into the lights and answering any questions you may have. Warm overalls are available to borrow, but don’t forget to bring a hat and gloves.
We will venture far enough from the city for a comfortable and scenic voyage, where the journey itself offers the chance to observe the auroras in a serene and mystical setting. Since the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, sightings cannot be guaranteed. However, our dedicated guides will do their best to maximize your chances by monitoring solar activity, weather conditions, and cloud cover. Aware that the weather can change quickly, we will always take our chances as long as the conditions allow.
Overnight stay.
DAY 3 | THE NATURAL WONDERS OF THE SOUTH COAST
Breakfast at the hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel.
Depart for a day exploring the natural wonders of the South Coast.
One of the most popular sites is the waterfalls of the South Coast. Iceland boasts hundreds of waterfalls cascading from cliff tops and thundering onto the rocks below, with two of the most beautiful located on the South Coast. Seljalandsfoss is the only place in Iceland where you can actually walk behind the waterfall. At Skógafoss, you can hike to the top of the falls to enjoy the view of the lush green landscape stretching to the sea and count the rainbows that appear when the sun hits the mist at the base of the waterfall. You can also catch glimpses of some of the country’s massive ice caps from the roadside, such as the famous Eyjafjallajökull, which caused the dramatic ash cloud in 2010.
