DAY 1 | PARIS / REYKJAVIK – First steps on Icelandic soil!  Velkomin til Islands !

Islande Reykjavik lac Tjörnin nuit ville église Hallgrímskirkja voyages o-nord

Flight to Reykjavik on a regular flight.

Upon arrival, take a deep breath of fresh air and make sure to bundle up from head to toe. There are several options to reach Reykjavik, located 45 minutes by car from the international airport:

The Flybus+ ensures departures from the airport for all flight arrivals and will drop you off at the stop closest to your first night’s accommodation. You can book your tickets online in advance, or, if you prefer, purchase them at the ticket counter located in the arrivals hall. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Alternatively, you can take a taxi. Although much more expensive, it is very comfortable and the fastest way to get from the airport. During this ride, you’ll get a small preview of Iceland’s wild landscapes.

In Reykjavik, many restaurants offer seasonal local specialty menus.

Your first meeting with the guide will take place starting on day 2.

DAY 2 | REYKJANES PENINSULA

Islande Hellisheidarvirkjun sources eaux chaudes neige montagne voyages o-nord

Breakfast.

The day will focus on the theme of geothermal energy, a natural resource that is highly present in Iceland. Upon your arrival at the airport, you may have only glimpsed one facet of the Reykjanes Peninsula.

Your guide will take you further to one of the UNESCO Global Geoparks. Highlights include boiling mud, steam fumaroles, and a surprising array of colors, a true sensory experience!

This part of the island offers a unique opportunity to witness the earth stretching in all its vitality. You will visit Hveragerði, a village located at the gateway to the Golden Circle. Known for its flower-filled landscapes maintained by the locals, the village is especially remarkable for its abundant geothermal features: hot springs along hiking trails and the geothermal park right in the town center, to name just a few.

At the entrance to Hveragerði, you’ll notice numerous agricultural greenhouses. In recent years, this charming community has greatly developed to better welcome visitors.

DAY 3 | GOLDEN CIRCLE

Iceland Reykjavik Blue Lagoon bain chaud vue ocean baignade voyages o-nord

Breakfast.

An unforgettable day that will take you to the crossroads of Icelandic history, nature, and beauty.

You will unveil the impressive and iconic Gullfoss waterfall, also known as the “Golden Falls.” Cascading over two levels, the winter colors will surely surprise you.

The journey continues with a must-see stop at the geothermal site of Geysir, where the spectacular Strokkur geyser erupts every 5 to 15 minutes.

For lunch, you will enjoy a unique experience by savoring a 100% Icelandic tomato soup, comfortably seated inside one of the greenhouses at the local Friðheimar farm—a guaranteed change of scenery!

Your guide will then take you to the Laugarás Lagoon, where you can relax in hot baths and unwind in one of the two saunas while taking in breathtaking views of the Hvitá River and its surroundings.

Your daily encounter with Iceland: Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is a profound symbol of the conciliatory spirit of the Icelandic people.

In this exceptional landscape, you will discover the historic remains of the Althing, where one of the world’s oldest parliamentary assemblies was held for over 850 years. Many pacts aimed at resolving conflicts were made at this site.

DAY 4 | SOUTH COAST

Islande Reykjavik Reynisfjara côte sud plage sable noir falaise océan voyages o-nord

Breakfast.

Traveling in Iceland means embracing constant change: changes in weather, colors, light, and landscapes.

If the sky is clear, keep an eye on the sea, you might catch a glimpse of the Vestman Islands. The main road along the coast, signaling the beginning of southern Iceland, also offers a stunning view of the famous Eyjafjallajökull glacier.

This region is dotted with typical farms, and you’ll likely have the chance to spot the renowned and resilient Icelandic horses, living symbols of the local culture.

Today’s focus will be on water in all its forms! Walking the path behind the Seljalandsfoss waterfall is an unforgettable experience. Further along, as you follow the rocky façade, venture into the gorge to uncover the hidden gem of Gljúfrabúi—a second waterfall concealed behind the first.

Next stop: the historic site of Skógar and the majestic Skogafoss waterfall.

You will then visit Reynisfjara, where basalt columns create a magical contrast against the black sand beach—a breathtaking setting.

DAY 5 | KLAUSTUR AND SKAFTAFELL

Islande Múlakvís glacier montagnes hiver voyages o-nord

Breakfast.

Today, a new change of scenery awaits. Before reaching the Klaustur region, your guide will first take you across the vast black sand plains of Mýrdalssandur, followed by the Eldhraun lava fields—remnants of the extravagant wrath of the Laki volcano, closely linked to French history.

You will marvel at Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier, first from a distance and then up close. The journey will continue towards Skaftafell National Park. Nestled at the foot of the glacier, this site is a paradise for nature lovers.

Many hiking opportunities will be available. One of the must-do trails leads to Svartifoss, a waterfall that has inspired famous Icelandic architects. Other paths will take you to stunning glacier tongues.

DAY 6 | JÖKULSÁRLÓN AND SOUTH COAST, ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE

Islande Jökulsárlón lagune glaciaire icebergs voyages o-nord

Breakfast.

It’s impossible to visit the Vatnajökull National Park region without taking the time to feast your eyes on the landscapes of Jökulsárlón, a lake formed by the melting glacier. Here, you can observe numerous icebergs floating in the lagoon. The panoramic view is simply stunning.

You will stroll along the so-called “Diamond Beach,” where the icebergs, having drifted and washed ashore, create a glittering spectacle on the black sand. Prepare for a fantastic show, as nature will immerse you in unexpected and breathtaking lights. Photographers, get ready!

On your return, the coastline will unfold its landscapes from an entirely different perspective, with each view offering a unique angle. Nothing is ever the same in Iceland; nature is constantly changing.

A detour to the Dyrhólaey promontory will provide you with a fresh experience and a chance to see the black sand beach of Vík from above. Additionally, birdwatchers will be thrilled by the diversity of birdlife that inhabits this rocky outcrop.

DAY 7 | REYKJAVIK

Islande Reykjavik aurores boréales ville nuit cathédrale Hallgrímskirkja voyages o-nord

Breakfast.

Return to Reykjavik, where you can take the time to explore the colors of the world’s northernmost capital. Starting with the authentic Lutheran Hallgrímskirkja church, you will descend the charming Skólavörðustígur street.

Along this street, you can treat yourself to a lopapeysa (a traditional Icelandic wool sweater with distinctive patterns, hand-knitted from the wool of Icelandic sheep) or any other woolen garment from the Icelandic knitting association.

Continuing from the shopping street Laugarvegur, you can head down Bankastraeti Street. You’ll reach the Parliament Square, not far from Lake Tjörnin, which offers a lovely view of the capital from the opposite shore.

From here, you can venture further toward the ocean, toward the Old Harbour and the Grandi district. As you head back to the city center, you’ll pass the beautiful and luminous Harpa Concert Hall, an architectural landmark.

Throughout this stay, your guide will be particularly attentive to any potential appearances of the Northern Lights, according to daily weather forecasts. If all conditions align, you’ll likely have the chance to witness this captivating and fleeting natural phenomenon.

Overnight in Reykjavik.

DAY 8 | REYKJAVIK / PARIS
