This area is one of the most prosperous in Iceland in terms of agriculture, with extensive dairy farming as well as sheep farming in addition to horse breeding, for which the region is famous (Skagafjörður is the only county in Iceland where horses outnumber the local population). Pass through the coastal village of Blonduos, lunch on your own.
Visit the Glaumbaer Folk Museum in Skagafjordur. This former turf-roofed farmhouse has been transformed into an open-air museum. Some of the buildings, with their typical architecture, date back to the 18th century.

A former trading port founded by the Danes in the 17th century, the city has always maintained a connection to the sea. It boasts an exceptional environment thanks to the beauty of the surrounding mountains. Continue to Godafoss, “The Waterfall of the Gods,” then discover the Lake Mývatn region, a place renowned worldwide for its unique geological and ornithological sites.
