EasyIn December in Norway, the sun does not rise above the horizon. This unique, soft and unreal light bathes the landscapes in sublime twilight hues and invites constant wonder.
Scenic cruising through snow-covered fjords, encounters with cetaceans, nights illuminated by the dance of the Northern Lights… You will experience a true waking dream, in rhythm with the polar night.
Only at this time of year does Norway offer the rare opportunity to observe orcas and whales. Attracted by immense schools of herring coming to spawn in the cold waters, these majestic cetaceans gather in the region, turning the sea into an extraordinary spectacle of wildlife.
During winter, Scandinavians embrace a peaceful and warm way of life, based on conviviality and shared moments. It is this unique atmosphere that you will discover in the cosy charm of the Polarfront.

ITINERARY
DAY 1 – TROMSØ
Boarding at 5:00 PM and welcome aboard Polarfront. Discover the ship and your living spaces over a welcome cocktail. Departure at 6:00 PM.
DAYS 2 & 3 – SKJERVØY
These days will be dedicated to the search for and observation of large cetaceans from Polarfront or from Zodiacs.
In winter, humpback whales and orcas come to feed between the islands, in the bay of Skjervøy, in the heart of the Lyngen Alps.
Polarfront will sail through a magnificent natural setting of alpine mountains and deep fjords, offering you spectacular views.

DAY 4 – SENJA
Senja rivals the beauty of the Lofoten and Vesterålen islands but remains far less visited.
It is an island to be explored slowly to fully appreciate its quiet and natural beauty. A wide agricultural plain meets the sea on the eastern coast, facing the mainland.
A beautiful hike is offered.

DAY 5 – TROLLFJORD
Let yourself be carried through Norway’s narrowest fjord: Trollfjord. Its name comes from the many legends and myths associated with its mysterious beauty.
Stretching 2,000 meters long and only 100 meters wide, explore Trollfjord by polar pedal boat or Zodiac; or admire the fjord’s steep shores from the warmth of the Nordic bath or panoramic sauna.

DAY 6 – LOFOTEN ISLANDS – WESTERN PART
Polarfront will sail to Leknes, a central port of the Lofoten archipelago.
You will visit the village of Nusfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage site. A stop in Reine will offer breathtaking views of this postcard-perfect Lofoten landscape.
You will then stroll through the charming village of Å, a museum village dedicated to cod fishing.

DAY 7 – LOFOTEN ISLANDS – EASTERN PART
This day begins with the discovery of the long northern sandy beaches.
In Eggum, you will take a step back into the history of World War II.
Then, we will take you to Henningsvær, a fishing village located at the tip of a peninsula. Nicknamed the “Venice of the Lofoten,” Henningsvær is probably the most charming place in the archipelago.
Finally, you will visit the Viking Museum of Borg.

DAY 8 – SKROVA
In the shadow of the larger Lofoten islands, Skrova proudly preserves its charm and mystery. Often nicknamed the “whale island” due to its rich whaling past, Skrova combines history, wild nature, and breathtaking landscapes.
With its white sandy beaches, authentic village, and rugged mountains, it is a true haven of peace.

DAY 9 – TROMSØ
This is where your wonderful adventure comes to an end.
Disembarkation takes place at 9:00 AM after breakfast.
