Comwell Kongebrogaarden

Kongebrogaarden is a very special place, steeped in peace, aesthetics, and atmosphere.

Since 1584, this location served as a point of service, passage, and transport for King Frederick II. Subsequently, the king’s son, the famous Christian IV, also frequented this place. From 1812, Kongebrogaarden became an inn and later transformed into a restaurant.

Just a few days after the start of World War I, Danish soldiers were housed at Kongebrogaarden, also welcoming refugees arriving by boat on the coast: young men from southern Jutland fleeing German military service. During World War II, the place was a favored establishment for the Nazis who resided there.

In 2011, Comwell Hotels took ownership of Kongebrogaarden, and in 2018, the hotel was named the ‘Best Luxury Hotel of the Year’.
