EasyEmbark on a true Arctic expedition, three days of raw wilderness, ancient silence, and the thrill of mastering your own dog team.
Explore the untouched beauty of Nordenskiöld Land, far from crowds and noise, where the only tracks in the snow are those of your sled and the huskies leading the way. Following in the footsteps of legendary polar explorers, this journey honours tradition with low-impact, dog-powered travel – a time-honoured method that brings you closer to nature than anything else can.
You’ll be in charge of your own team of six strong, loyal Alaskan huskies, learning to mush through valleys, over frozen plains, and into the heart of Arctic stillness. Each night, you’ll camp under wide skies and shifting light, warmed by effort, camaraderie, and the quiet pride of doing something few dare.
This is more than a journey. It’s a transformation.

Detailed Itinerary
DAY 1 – ARRIVAL IN LONGYEARBYEN & EXPEDITION PREPARATION
Welcome to the world’s northernmost city, where your Arctic adventure begins. Upon arrival, your Basecamp guide will meet you at the airport and bring you to the characterful Basecamp Hotel for check-in. Meet your guide and fellow explorers in the cozy reception of Basecamp Hotel at 3PM – the perfect setting to break the ice and connect with your team for the days ahead. Over a warm welcome and an introduction to the expedition, you’ll get to know the people you’ll share this journey with – and the experienced guide who will lead you safely through the Arctic wilderness. We’ll walk you through everything you need to know: daily routines, safety procedures, equipment use, and how to pack smart for three intense and rewarding days outdoors. This is where the transformation begins – from traveler to musher.

DAY 2 – FIRST DOGSLEDDING EXPERIENCE AT TRAPPER’S STATION
Enjoy a home made breakfast at Basecamp Hotel. Your guide will meet you in the reception of Basecamp Hotel at 10 AM, and together you’ll drive out to Trapper’s Station in Bolterdalen, home to 80 eager Alaskan huskies, all howling with anticipation. Some of these energetic athletes will soon become your trusted teammates as you head out on a 3-day sled dog expedition through Svalbard’s frozen heart. Once at the station, your guide will walk you through everything you need to know: dog sledding techniques, safety procedures, and how to work as a team with your sled and dogs. Then it’s time to harness up, load the sleds, and head straight into the vast white silence of Adventdalen.
DAY 3 – IMMERSION IN THE ARCTIC WILDERNESS
Out here, the day begins with the dogs. Before your first sip of coffee or bite of breakfast, your loyal husky team is your priority – fed, checked, and ready for the trail. It’s part of the rhythm of expedition life: simple, purposeful, and deeply grounding. Today, you’ll journey even farther from civilization, into the untouched wilderness of Svalbard. The landscape shifts constantly: Frozen riverbeds, wide-open valleys, steep climbs and powdery snow. At times, you may need to jump off the sled to help your team power through the terrain. That’s part of the magic: you’re not a passenger, you’re part of the pack. We stop along the way to enjoy a hearty outdoor lunch surrounded by Arctic silence, before setting up a new campsite for the night, far from roads, lights, and noise.
DAY 4 – FINAL ARCTIC JOURNEY & RETURN TO LONGYEARBYEN
The final chapter of your Arctic adventure begins. With sleds packed and huskies eager, we set out for one last ride through the snow-covered valleys of Svalbard. Today’s route takes us south, tracing new tracks through the pristine landscape as the Arctic reveals its quiet farewell. By afternoon, we return to Basecamp Trapper’s Station, where the dogs are welcomed home, tails wagging, hearts full. You’ll have a final moment to thank your four-legged teammates with a well-deserved cuddle, before heading back to Longyearbyen. After three days of raw nature, deep connection and true exploration, you are no longer just a visitor. You are part of a rare circle, those who have truly mushed their way through the Arctic wilderness. Your guide will drive you “home” to Basecamp Hotel and the civilization, for check in.
DAY 5 – LONGYEARBYEN DISCOVERY & DEPARTURE
We hope you’ve rested well after your amazing adventure in the wilderness and are ready to start the day with another generous breakfast at Basecamp Hotel. This day is yours to enjoy at your own pace. Take time to explore Longyearbyen’s unique culture and stories. We recommend a visit to Mine 3, the Cable Car Centre, or the Svalbard Museum, each offering insight into life at the top of the world. Or simply wander the streets, stop by local shops, and pick up a souvenir or two from your time in the North. When the time comes, your guide will drive you to the airport and send you off with a warm farewell and maybe a final tip for your next Arctic journey.

- The health and well-being of our dogs are our absolute priority, whether at the kennel, on expeditions, or elsewhere. They are not just part of our team – they are our team.
- The main physical activity on this trip is dogsledding. No prior experience is required, but it is your responsibility to wear appropriate clothing, bring the necessary personal equipment, be in good physical condition, and show courage and a spirit of adventure.
- The guide is primarily responsible for the participants and their safety during each excursion. If the guide believes that a participant does not have the required clothing or physical condition for the activity, they may decide to exclude the participant from the excursion for safety reasons. Some parts of the journey may be demanding due to weather conditions, wind and low temperatures, as well as rugged terrain without roads or trails. The length and duration of the trip, steep climbs, or sections where you may need to help the huskies by pushing the sled through deep snow can also be challenging.
- Snowmobile, dogsledding, and RIB excursions are not recommended for people with back problems. Pregnant women are not allowed to participate in any of the excursions offered by Basecamp Spitsbergen. Basecamp declines all responsibility for any health issues resulting from failure to follow these guidelines.

- Safety is our top priority during our trips. To participate in our excursions, it is essential to be proficient in English or a Scandinavian language. The language of the tour (English or Scandinavian) will be chosen based on the group’s language level.
- In Svalbard, weather conditions can change rapidly. We may encounter strong winds, snowstorms, thick fog, crevasses, or a lack of snow or ice. As a result, we may need to modify the planned itinerary, which could prevent us from reaching the originally intended destination. We may also need to use a different mode of transport or accommodation than described in the program. We will always do our best to provide our guests with an unforgettable Arctic experience while taking into account the specific conditions of this destination.
