DAY 2 | COPENHAGEN / FAROE ISLANDS

The Faroe Islands, the small green jewel of a country, are just a 2-hour flight from Copenhagen. Upon your arrival with Atlantic Airways, you will be greeted by your guide for the stay. The transfer time to the capital of Tórshavn is less than an hour and will take you along the picturesque mountain road, providing an excellent introduction to what the country has to offer. After checking in at Hotel Djurhuus (2 nights), you are invited to join the scheduled sightseeing tour of the old town of Tórshavn (please respect the privacy of people living in these historic houses), followed by a short bus ride to the cultural center of Kirkjubøur. The village of Kirkjubøur is characterized by its thatched roofs and rich history, and is famous for the ruins of Saint Magnus Cathedral.

DAY 3 | VESTMANNA CLIFFS

Today, you will head to the village of Vestmanna for a boat cruise to the magnificent cliffs—a prime destination in the country. The boat cruise will provide you with a unique experience of the sheer scale of nature as you sail along the towering cliffs, home to a larger population of special residents—seabirds, of course. The waves crashing into the caves will captivate you, and weather permitting, you may have the chance to sail through one of them. The journey lasts about 2 hours, after which a buffet lunch will be served at the restaurant of the Vestmanna Visitor Center. The day will conclude in the mid-afternoon.

DAY 4 | THE ROMANTIC ISLANDS OF STREYMOY AND EYSTUROY

It’s time to pack your bags and get ready to head north to Hotel Gjáargarður (2 nights). Your guide and bus will pick you up, taking the group on a day of adventure on the islands of Streymoy and Eysturoy. On our way to Gjógv, you will learn about the stories and legends of the places and villages we pass through, with time for photo stops along the way. The bus will make stops at the whale station við Áir and the fairytale village of Saksun for a visit to the Dúvugarður Museum. After crossing the Atlantic Bridge between Streymoy and Eysturoy, the tour will continue through the mountain pass between Eiði and Gjógv, where we will pass along the base of the islands’ highest mountain, Slættaratindur, at 882 meters. The day’s final must-see photo stop will be at the viewpoint of the sea stacks “the Giant and the Witch.”

DAY 5 | THE DRAMATIC NORTHERN ISLANDS

At the extreme north are the islands of Borðoy and Kunoy, our destinations for the day. En route to the country’s fishing capital, Klaksvík, we visit the Village Museum of Nes, Toftir. Richer and enlightened on the history of Nes, Toftir, we continue the day northward, through the underwater tunnel between Eysturoy and Borðoy. Don’t forget to notice the lights at the end of the tunnel, which are an artwork by the famous local artist Tróndur Patursson. After a brief sightseeing tour in the town of Klaksvík, we visit the island of Kunoy. Lunch.

DAY 6 | THE WESTERN ISLAND OF VÁGAR

Pack your socks and toothbrush because it’s time to say goodbye to Hotel Gjáargarður. Our reliable bus and guide will take you from Eysturoy via Streymoy to the island of Vágar, where you will conclude your visit at the airport hotel, Hotel Vágar (1 night). After check-in, it’s time to explore Vágar, which, beyond its Instagram-worthy spots, the villages of Bøur and Gásadalur, is home to local historical sites such as the Kálvalíð Museum, the War Museum, and the beautiful church of Sandavágur. The journey ends with a boat trip on Leitisvatn, also known as the “lake above the ocean.” The boat trip will be on the eco-friendly and unique vessel “Lakeside,” the only one of its kind. At the end of the lake, we visit the Bøssdalafossur waterfall, and there will be time for on-land exploration before heading home.

DAY 7 | MEETING A LOCAL – FAROE ISLANDS / COPENHAGEN

Before heading home, it’s time to meet a “local” – We have arranged a meeting with a farmer from Bøur who will share insights into life on the islands and in the village where he resides. Then it’s time to bid farewell, and we hope the journey has been a wonderful experience, saying simply “until next time.”

Hotel Djurhuus is located in Tórshavn, close to the historic fortress of Skansin and the bus and ferry terminal. Walking from the hotel to the marina, restaurants, the main street, and the tourist office takes about 10 minutes. Hotel Djurhuus features a restaurant serving breakfast.

Hotel Gjáargarð in Gjógv

Hotel Vágar is located 800 meters from Vágar Airport on the island of Vágar. Surrounded by the countryside, the hotel is an ideal base for exploring the island and is only a short drive from the villages of Bøur and Gásadalur. Hotel Vágar has a restaurant serving breakfast.
