ModerateTombstone Territorial Park protects over 2,200 square kilometers of rugged peaks, tundra, and clear rivers in the heart of the Ogilvie Mountains.
The park straddles the watershed and the Dempster Highway, in the traditional territory of the Tr’ondek Hwech’in First Nation.
The mountains are home to one of the largest intact caribou herds in the world, as well as bears, Dall sheep, moose, wolves, falcons, and eagles. It’s a paradise for photographers, with a wealth of colorful, delicate Arctic plants set against the dramatic dark peaks that give the park its name.
We will spend six days hiking through these rugged mountains and camping near alpine lakes with stunning views. There are many opportunities for day hikes, depending on the interests and abilities of the group.
Our journey concludes with a day in the historic town of Dawson.
