Detailed itinerary
DAY 1 – ARRIVAL IN LONGYEARBYEN AND DOG-SLEDDING
Touch down in Svalbard, where your guide will meet you at the airport for transfer into town. In the afternoon, feel the thrill of dog-carting with eager huskies as you roll across the tundra, a taste of true Arctic adventure. Our charming Trapper’s Station is located 10 kilometers from Longyearbyen, surrounded by breathtaking Arctic nature. Our cosy Alaskan Huskies makes this a place you don’t want to leave.
The day ends with a cozy overnight stay at Basecamp Hotel in the heart of Longyearbyen, your gateway to the High Arctic. If you’d like, we’re happy to recommend one of Longyearbyen’s many local restaurants for dinner. Be warned: under the midnight sun, which never dips below the horizon in summer, it can be hard to call it a night. Instead, take a leisurely evening stroll and soak in the magical light as it paints the town and surrounding landscape.

DAY 2 – CROSSING TO ISFJORD RADIO AND ARCTIC IMMERSION
Your Arctic journey begins! Pack light, just one bag, as space onboard the boat is limited. Any extra luggage can be safely stored at Basecamp Hotel in Longyearbyen. Welcome aboard one of our closed boats. We set course westward across Isfjorden, bound for the remote outpost of Cape Linné. Settle in and take in the unfolding Arctic scenery as we cruise towards Isfjord Radio, where your hosts await with warm smiles and true wilderness hospitality.
Join your hosts on a guided walk around the station and discover its fascinating past as a remote communication hub. Afterwards, step into the seaside sauna perched on the cliffs and enjoy sweeping views over the Arctic Ocean. With luck, you may even spot wildlife moving through the waves below. End the day with a multi-course Arctic menu, thoughtfully prepared by our chefs with seasonal ingredients from the region. Please let us know in advance about any dietary requirements so we can tailor the experience for you.
DAY 3 – EXPLORATION AND RELAXATION DAY AT ISFJORD RADIO
Wake up in the wilderness. After a restful night, open your eyes to one of the most unforgettable views on Earth; Cape Linné’s bird sanctuary, framed by Arctic silence and the endless sea. Sip your morning coffee or tea while soaking in this panorama from the edge of the world. Breakfast with a view.
Each day at Isfjord Radio offers new opportunities to explore. Join one of our optional day trips, tailored to help you experience even more of Svalbard’s raw and beautiful nature. Whether by foot, boat, or on a wildlife safari, adventure is never far away.
Afterwards, take time to unwind. A refreshing Arctic dip or a quiet moment in the sauna is highly recommended. Bonfire moments (weather permitting). If the wind allows, we gather under the Arctic sky for a bonfire and a toast to the day’s adventures.
DAY 4 – ARCTIC SAFARI AND RETURN TO LONGYEARBYEN
The Big Five of Svalbard – will you spot them?
For many Arctic travelers, the Big Five, walrus, polar bear, seal, arctic fox, and Svalbard reindeer, are at the top of the bucket list. At Isfjord Radio, you’re in the perfect place to encounter several of these incredible species in their natural habitat. Keep your eyes open, you never know who’s watching you!
Fuel up for the day with a hearty Arctic breakfast in the dining room. The weather always shapes the adventure in Svalbard. Depending on the conditions, you’ll either embark on a fascinating boat safari past towering bird cliffs and majestic glaciers, or set out on foot across the Arctic tundra. Along the way, your guide will share insights into wildlife, flora, local stories, and the unique surroundings that make this place so extraordinary. Explore even more of the dramatic and wildlife-rich west coast of Svalbard. In the afternoon, board our comfortable closed boat, and return to Longyearbyen after an unforgettable stay at the edge of the world.
DAY 5 – LAST MOMENTS IN LONGYEARBYEN AND DEPARTURE
Enjoy a hearty breakfast at Basecamp Hotel, the best in town, on your final morning in the Arctic. Depending on your flight time, you may wish to explore Longyearbyen a little further: delve into the island’s mining history, visit the excellent museum, or simply wander through town. We’re happy to recommend activities to suit your interests. When it’s time to say farewell, your guide will drive you to the airport. The adventure may be over, but you’ll bring the Arctic memories home with you. Until next time!
