Itinerary

DAY 1 | PARIS / FAROE

Arrival in the Faroe Islands. The village of Gásadalur and impressive viewpoints. Arrival with Atlantic Airways. Pick up your rental car at the airport.

Explore the island of Vágar at your own pace. A visit to the small village of Gásadalur is recommended. From there, you can follow marked nature trails and enjoy the impressive view of Tindhólmur. Don’t miss the beautiful waterfall that flows into the ocean. Spend the night on Vágar.

DAY 2 | VESTMANNA CLIFFS AND THE ROCK FORMATIONS, THE GIANT AND THE WITCH

It is recommended, on your way north, to take a two-hour boat trip (not included) to explore the Vestmanna Cliffs*.

*The tour starts with a boat trip to the Vestmanna Cliffs. You will sail into grottos, through narrow sounds, and close to imposing vertical cliffs. After the boat trip, you will have lunch, and then visit the only wax museum in the Faroe Islands, the SagaMuseum. Through 17 very lifelike figures, placed in very realistic surroundings, you can follow the dramatic history of the Faroe Islands. (available in June, July, and August – May and September on request).

Continue on to the village of Tjørnuvík, surrounded by steep mountains. Here, you can admire the impressive rock formations of the Giant and the Witch.

Cross the bridge connecting the islands of Eysturoy and Streymoy, and continue to the village of Eiði. Here, more beautiful landscapes and nature will await you, with a view of the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands, Slættaratindur, reaching 882 meters.

Spend the night in Eysturoy.

DAY 3 | VISIT THE VILLAGE OF GJÓGV AND ENJOY THE VIEW FROM CROWN PRINCESS MARY’S BENCH

Enjoy the day in the picturesque village of Gjógv, known for its unique natural harbor and beautiful views of the island of Kalsoy. The natural harbor is an attraction that everyone should take the time to see.

Walk along the edge of the crevice, and you might see puffins emerging from their nests, heading towards the ocean to fetch food for their young. At the end of the crevice, facing the open ocean, it is possible to enjoy the view from Crown Princess Mary’s Bench.

If you walk uphill on the hillside, you will be rewarded with beautiful views of the bird cliffs and the village.

Spend the night in Eysturoy.

DAY 4 | DISCOVER THE NORTHERN ISLANDS AND THE NORTHERNMOST VILLAGE VIÐAREIÐI

From Leirvík, take the sub-sea tunnel to reach the town of Klaksvík. The tunnel is adorned with lights by the famous Faroese artist Tróndur Patursson. While staying in Klaksvík, exploring the area with a self-guided tour is recommended.

From Klaksvík, it is possible to explore the other Northern Islands, each offering spectacular landscapes. On the island of Viðoy lies the northernmost village in the Faroe Islands, Viðareiði, which is definitely worth a visit.

Spend the night in the Northern Islands.

DAY 5 |THE ISLAND KUNOY AND THE TOWN KLAKSVĺK

It is suggested to visit the island of Kunoy. From the small village of Kunoy, you will enjoy a beautiful view of the island of Kalsoy. Above the village, there is a small pleasant park. A local legend tells that a plank from Noah’s ark rests on a high mountain in Kunoy, where clams and sea shells grow. People who got lost in the fog have reportedly seen the plank, but no one who attempted to search for it has ever found it.

Back on Eysturoy, it is recommended to head towards the village of Toftir to take the road to Tórshavn through the new subsea tunnel.

Spend the night in Tórshavn.

DAY 6 | SAGA ISLAND SANDOY AND TRADITIONAL LIFESTYLE

It is suggested to visit the beautiful and green island of Sandoy, also known as the Saga-island. Compared to the other islands, it is characterized by mostly flat terrain. The island is rich in history and wonderful nature.

Spend the night in Tórshavn.

DAY 7 | TÓRSHAVN AND CULTURAL CENTER KIRKJUBØUR
