The Northern Lights House

Magical Atmosphere

“Looking for an unforgettable accommodation or perhaps a luxurious honeymoon destination? Partially built underground, the imaginative Northern Lights House is designed to cater to the most discerning needs of a small group (max. 4 adults and 2 children). The panoramic windows provide views of the slope during the day and a stage for the Northern Lights at night.

Lapland Suite

In this room, you can spend the night in a wild cabin ambiance created by pine wood paneling and custom pine furniture. The bathroom is also themed in the same manner, although it is equipped with all modern comforts. Access to the private terrace is located beside the Lapland Suite, allowing you to admire the landscape and the northern sky with all its phenomena through its panoramic window.”

Golden Suite

This suite draws inspiration from the Palace of Versailles. The interior decoration is in a lush and luxurious baroque style, extending to the wallpaper. The Golden Suite naturally features its own shower and bathroom. The view of the valleys, stretching to the sunset and the northern sky, can be admired through a panoramic window or by stepping through the door onto the terrace.

Living Room

In the 55 sqm living room, the most striking feature is the curved ceiling with a Nordic sky and Northern Lights stylishly illuminated. The panoramic window spanning the entire width of the room is perfect for enjoying the landscape or the Northern Lights.

Sauna

A private sauna provides luxurious relaxation moments for those staying at the Northern Lights House. The sauna is equipped with a wall-mounted refrigerator for enjoying refreshing drinks during the sauna session.

Jacuzzi

The sauna changing room provides access to the building’s private terrace and the hot tub, where the Northern Lights hunting can be combined with a luxurious relaxation moment.

Utsu Restaurant

They draw inspiration from the Arctic nature and the purest air in Europe. Some of their ingredients are harvested in the surrounding forests: mushrooms, berries, lichen… There are also rivers and fish-filled lakes nearby, along with Norwegian fjords and mountains with all they have to offer.

The strong seasonal variations from the midnight sun to the polar night in the northern region intensify flavors and impact ingredient availability. They are inspired to use seasonal ingredients and cooking methods that preserve natural flavors. The menu evolves with the season and changes throughout the year.

For a complete experience, portion sizes are designed for enjoying multiple dishes.

Private Event

When it comes time to celebrate a significant milestone or love, Utsu Restaurant is perfect. The magical Northern Lights House is an atmospheric venue for a celebration or private event. The building has been the site of weddings, birthday parties, and small client events. The Kota, a traditional Sami dwelling, fits well into the festive program for those staying in the Levi glass igloos.

Activities

The Levi Crown Glass Igloos are open throughout the Northern Lights season from late August to early April. During this period, the nights are dark enough to observe the Northern Lights, and the midnight sun does not disturb sleep in the glass igloo. Even though the middle of winter is the most popular time to travel to Lapland, Levi offers many activities throughout the Northern Lights season.

Autumn Season

The autumn season extends from late August to November. Between August and October, snow has not yet fallen, and the celestial phenomena are very distinct on bright nights. Autumn is the best time to photograph the Northern Lights. The Levi igloos provide a direct view of the northern sky for the enjoyment of observers and photographers.

In September, autumn also colors the trees and bushes, providing plenty of imposing sights to photograph during the day. The beautiful early autumn days can be pleasantly spent cycling, golfing, hiking, horseback riding, or boating, for example. The first snow often falls in October-November, and persistent snow is usually on the ground after mid-November. Hiking, horseback riding, and cycling are possible throughout the winter, provided you are well-equipped.

Winter

The winter season begins in early December when there is enough snow for various winter activities, such as snowmobiling and safaris with huskies and reindeer. There are only a few hours of daylight, but the snow multiplies the amount of light. On bright nights, you can often see the Northern Lights, and temperatures can be very low from December to February.

Late winter lasts from early March to late April, with nights still dark but the daylight hours increasing. The harshest colds have eased off. On sunny days, conditions for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and downhill skiing are ideal.

Green Key

The beautiful nature of Lapland is not just their environment; it’s a matter of the heart for them and their legacy for future generations. That’s why the luxurious comfort of their guests and environmental respect go hand in hand as they developed their services. In June 2021, they received the prestigious Green Key award, a leading excellence standard in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry. Companies that receive this award have undergone a third-party audit process and are committed to meeting high environmental standards.

Green Key helps them spread environmental awareness

“Environmental issues are not new to us. We have taken them into consideration in our daily actions since we started operating,” explains Eva Lindström, Sales and Environmental Affairs Manager. So why apply for the award now? “Environmental awareness has recently developed among our travelers and travel organizers. We want to promote it even more, and it’s easier to do with the help of an internationally recognized environmental program like Green Key,” adds Eva
