The Barö is located on a seaside cliff in the Inkoo archipelago, less than an hour’s drive from Helsinki. The architecture and materials used for the construction of the hotel blend harmoniously into the landscape. The hotel has 12 cabins arranged next to each other facing the sea. The elegant rooms decorated in dark tones have large windows, armchairs, a fireplace and a terrace.

The Barösund

The Barösund is our hotel’s magnificent suite. The suite consists of two separate rooms with a terrace between them. You can sleep comfortably in the suite’s king-size bed or curl up on the soft sofa by the fireplace in the living room. The terrace between the buildings offers spectacular views of Hycklesund Bay, which you can also admire from the suite’s sauna or jacuzzi.

The Barölandet mini suite is our hotel’s magnificent mini suite. The mini suite consists a bedroom, living room and a terrace. You can sleep comfortably in the suite’s king-size bed or curl up on the soft sofa in the living room. The Barölandet is a double room with a king size bed and a large terrace. Thanks to the panorama windows, you can feel like you are in the middle of nature even inside the room. If you book this room with The Barölandet Twin room, the rooms connect with each other on the terrace.

The Barölandet Twin

The Barölandet Twin is a double room with a choice of twin beds or a king-size bed. You can get close to nature through the magnificent landscape that opens from the panoramic window. Please include a message in your booking stating your bed type preference. The room is available extra bed for the third guest. The extra bed is 70 cm wide, it can accommodate one adult or child.

Sustainability

Ecology

The hotel’s accommodation buildings are modular buildings. When thinking about the concept of the hotel, ecology and preserving nature were important cornerstones in the design. The accommodation buildings are built from Finnish heartwood logs, which are only felled no more than 100 kilometers from the sawmill. Modular construction also made it possible to build indoors, which saved us from possible damage caused by the weather during construction. On the plot, the first work phase was the construction of footbridges between the buildings, so that the soil would not be trampled during the construction phase. The accommodation buildings were lifted into place on their feet, allowing the ground beneath them to live and grow its own life.

Towards more sustainable tourism – the promise is that the hotel will be carbon positive as early as 2023.

In the hotel, they only use renewable energy sources – 100% wind power. During 2023, they will install solar cells, which will allow them to produce a large part of the energy they use.

They sort their waste and avoid individual products packaged in plastic. They donate discarded textiles to those who need them. To avoid plastic waste, they use refillable ceramic bottles for laundry products.

Locality

They prefer cooperation with local operators so that the carbon footprint of the products and services we use is as low as possible.

In their restaurant, they prefer ingredients produced nearby or sourced from responsible operators. They avoid food waste by offering their guests, for example, a personally covered breakfast.

Certificates

Sustainable Travel Finland Sustainable Travel Finland label will make it easier for travel trade and travellers to recognise a tourism company and destination that takes sustainability seriously. The label is only awarded for those companies and destinations that have undergone the entire Sustainable Travel Finland programme and fulfilled the criteria.

Clef Verte is the first tourist environmental label in the world. There are already more than 3,700 Green Key certified destinations in a total of 60 different countries.
