The Ranua Wildlife Park specializes in Arctic and Nordic animal species, boasting a history of nearly 40 years. The spacious enclosures for the animals are located in the midst of the northern coniferous forest, which is also the natural habitat for most species residing in the park.

The park is open every day of the year, and the changing seasons add an extra dimension to the wildlife park experience.

Ranua Wildlife Park is home to Finland’s only polar bear and 50 other animal species from the Arctic and the North, totaling around 150 animals.

Detailed program

Accommodation

Several options are available for an unforgettable stay.

SPEND THE NIGHT UNDER THE STARS

You can spend the night in comfortable villas or luxurious glass igloos according to your preferences. Well-equipped glass igloos are situated on the naturally beautiful and peaceful shores of Lake Ranuanjärvi. You can admire the stars in the sky comfortably from your bed, and with a bit of luck, you may also catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Each igloo is equipped with a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a private sauna. The igloos are located approximately 5 kilometers from the wildlife park. Holiday villas are located across from the wildlife park, and each villa has everything you need for a relaxed vacation; a fireplace, sauna, and a kitchen with all modern conveniences, as well as a terrace with a forest view. Two villas can be combined to form a single holiday accommodation that can accommodate 12 people. The surrounding wilderness provides our visitors with opportunities for year-round nature adventures, and the Arctic animals from the wildlife park are within walking distance.

They are situated on the tranquil shore of Lake Ranuanjärvi, far from city lights in complete silence. The igloos are placed along the lake’s edge, overlapping, so you can admire the lake’s ridge view from each one. The heating of the glass panels on the roof prevents fogging and snow accumulation, allowing unobstructed views throughout the year. The well-equipped glass igloos each accommodate 2 to 4 people, featuring a kitchenette, sauna, shower, and toilet. Spend an unforgettable luxury night under the starry sky of Ranua!

Sustainability at Ranua Resort

Sustainability is a crucial factor in all their activities, and they strive to make environmentally sustainable choices in their accommodation, cleaning, catering, wildlife park, souvenir shop, offices, and all their purchases. In addition to these efforts, significant work is carried out in the wildlife park to maintain a sufficiently diverse population in terms of animal species and species protection. The goal is to maintain a stock that is both appropriately sized and genetically as diversified as possible. Furthermore, they also collaborate with other wildlife parks in terms of information sharing and research. The species in Ranua Wildlife Park’s EEP programs include polar bears, wolverines, wolves, otters, dholes, musk oxen, European minks, sea eagles, Pallas’s cat, and the latest addition, the snowy owl, which has its own program. Additionally, their species in the EAZA studbooks programs include the Finnish forest reindeer, brown bear, and lynx.

The Arctic animals live in a wildlife park, totaling approximately 50 Nordic and Arctic animal species and around 150 individual animals. Well-being is one of the core values of Ranua Wildlife Park, and we aim to act responsibly. Most of our residents were born in sheltered conditions here or in other wildlife parks and are accustomed to human presence. However, we kindly ask all our visitors to respect the peace of the animals in their own home and to behave quietly near the enclosures.
