Very easyKiruna has just about everything, from a landscape of majestic mountains to a fascinating architectural history, from the Northern Lights to the Midnight Sun, from dog sledding to Icelandic horseback riding, and everything in between. With a fantastic location close to the center of Kiruna and the endless forest with its hiking trails and ski tracks, it offers the best of both worlds.
Camp Ripan is a family-owned business, passionate about showcasing everything that makes the northernmost part of Sweden so fantastic: the meeting of different cultures, the majestic nature, and the availability of local wild products that become delightful experiences in their cuisine. With well-thought-out design and materials, they aim to tell stories about this place and the culture that surrounds it while preserving it for future generations.
Detailed program
After a full day outdoors, what could be better than relaxing in the Aurora Spa and letting the day’s activities slowly dissipate by indulging in a soothing sauna bath, a foot bath, beneficial spa products, and a refreshing dip in the pool? Enjoy ending the evening at the restaurant, Ripan Kitchen, where fantastic local fresh products are transformed into delightful culinary experiences.
The design, decor, and choice of materials always evoke a sense of purity and simplicity, reflecting the nature, culture, and atmosphere of this mountain town. The tall panoramic windows of the main building offer magnificent unobstructed views, similar to the open mountain landscape that allows your eyes to rest on the distant horizon. Appropriately placed in the center of the grand entrance hall is an open fireplace. The warming, invigorating, and enchanting fire created the conditions for their ancestors to survive in this often harsh subarctic environment. It can be said that every place has its soul, and the community of the three cultures in which they live is indeed their soul.
It’s a rather unconventional hotel. The municipality of Kiruna covers a large area, so there is plenty of room to build outward rather than upward. That’s why their beautiful and comfortable hotel rooms are cozy cottages with private entrances. Simply your own private oasis close to all amenities.
Sustainability
They want to share with their guests everything they love about Kiruna—experiences that respect and take care of the nature, cultures, and people who live here.
For them, long-term sustainability is just as important as being a great host. Travelers come from all corners of the world to experience their Arctic nature and culture, and they strive to offer this beautiful environment based on long-term sustainability. Environmental awareness is always part of their daily operations; they continuously work to reduce their negative impact on the environment. Environmental consideration is reflected in their choice of suppliers and raw products for the restaurant, as well as in how they design their facilities and choose their cleaning products.
As a guest, you can also contribute, for example, by using the same towels and sheets throughout your stay—small things that benefit both their environment and their sensitive nature. Learn more about how they work with water and energy conservation, composting, and heat recycling in their new climate-smart kitchen. Discover more about sustainable experiences, local raw products, Sámi culinary culture, and natural relaxation. Answers they will provide during your next stay at Camp Ripan.

Aurora Spa
Aurora Spa in Kiruna, Lapland – A unique spa in a unique region!
During its construction, the goal was already clear – they wanted a spa in which materials symbolizing our lives, from everyday to relaxing leisure, were all included as natural elements in the nature, communities, and cultures of Lapland. Stone, wood, and water – materials representing freshness, warmth, and the essential, are deeply rooted elements and guiding principles of their spa.
They chose not to block the feeling of winter but rather to integrate it. The Aurora Spa invites you to wander between indoors and outdoors, warmth and cold, soothing water, and crystalline snow. Relax indoors and enjoy the winter white landscape through panoramic windows, or feel the fresh caress of the polar winter on your cheek while enveloped in the warm comfort of their outdoor pool. And if you’re lucky, the colorful dance of the Northern Lights will entertain you!
