Itinerary

DAY 1 | ARRIVAL IN THE FAROE ISLANDS – WELCOME

Arrival with Atlantic Airways. Transportation from the airport to the overnight accommodation in Tórshavn.

Check-in at your accommodation in Tórshavn.

DAY 2 | EXCURSION – HIGHLIGHTS OF THE NORTH

You begin your adventure on the beautiful island of Borðoy, where you explore Klaksvík, the heart of the fishing industry in the Faroe Islands. You will visit the isolated village of Kunoy and head north to the picturesque Viðareiði. On the way back to Tórshavn, you will pass through the fascinating underwater tunnel where Tróndur Patursson has decorated the roundabout.

*Possibility to change the day’s excursion. The following excursions can be purchased :

Hike to Kallin Lighthouse or Hike to Kallurin Lighthouse and Borgarin Mountain. Both hikes are of medium to difficult difficulty in rugged terrain.

DAY 3 | DAY ON YOUR OWN

Additional excursions can be purchased, such as:

Vágar Island. The first stop will be in the picturesque village of Bøur to enjoy the best view of Tindhólmur and the iconic Drangarnir sea stacks. Continue to Gásadalur, where you will stroll to the most photographed waterfall in the Faroe Islands, Múlafossur. Along the way, you pass the “Lake above the ocean.”

Includes bus, guide, lunch, and beverages.

Walking exploration of the old town district of Tórshavn, Tinganes, and Reyn, with its narrow streets and charming thatched-roof houses. The local guide will share stories about the past and present.

City stroll (1 hour). Includes the guide.

DAY 4 | VESTMANNA MOUNTAINS AND VIKING SETTLEMENTS OF KVÍVÍK

Full-day excursion to the majestic Vestmanna mountains and the ancient Viking settlements of Kvívík. The day begins with an exhilarating boat trip to the Vestmanna Sea Cliffs, where you explore the dramatic cliffs and some of the hidden caves. On the way back to Tórshavn, you visit the Viking settlements in the picturesque village of Kvívík and make several photo stops along the way.

DAY 5 | SAGA ISLAND OF SANDOY AND CULTURAL CENTRE OF KIRKJUBØUR

Full-day excursion to the historical island of Sandoy, one of the most preserved islands where you can still experience the old Faroese way of life.

You depart from Tórshavn, crossing the mountain to the Gamlarætt ferry port, where you’ll pass through the new underwater tunnel. The guide entertains with sagas of the island. Explore a visit to the church, fantastic viewpoints, and small villages.

Before returning to Tórshavn, you visit Kirkjubøur, which is the historical and cultural center of the Faroe Islands. Explore the unfinished Magnus Cathedral and the small medieval church of St. Olav. 

DAY 6 | EXCURSION – THE HIGHLIGHTS OF STREYMOY AND EYSTUROY

You travel to the idyllic village of Saksun, nestled charmingly in a small fjord with imposing mountains on each side. Continue to the village of Tjørnuvík, making a stop at the Fossá waterfall along the way. From Tjørnuvík, you can see the impressive rock formations of the Giant and the Witch.

Before reaching Gjógv, you’ll have a view of the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands, Slættaratindur (882 m). In Gjógv, you discover the natural harbor from which the village takes its name.

DAY 7 | DAY ON YOUR OWN

Additional excursions can be purchased, for example:

Full-day excursion to Mykines Island including a hike. Enjoy a splendid boat trip along the majestic cliffs. Witness the impressive Northern Gannets that only breed on Mykinesholm and the adorable puffins with colorful beaks.

Full-day excursion. Includes bus, guide, ferry, fees, lunch, and beverages. NOTE: The full-day excursion to Mykines Island is very popular and must be booked in advance.

DAY 8 | DEPARTURE FROM THE FAROE SILANDS

Transport from overnight accommodations to the airport. Departure with Atlantic Airways.
