Accommodation

All the original or recently constructed rorbus, as well as the historic houses, maintain high standards. Each rorbu has one to four double bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchenette adjacent to the living room, and at least one modern bathroom with a shower and toilet.

The 35 rorbus are winterized. Significant importance is given to preserving the authenticity of the rorbus. Traditional craftsmanship and wood are preserved to evoke the feel of what a rorbu was like in the days when fishermen harvested the sea of Lofoten from boats equipped only with oars and sails.

RORBUSUITES

Modern rorbu suites that can accommodate up to 8 people spread over 2 floors. With a stunning location in the port of Svolvær, you enjoy a spectacular view and proximity to the city, the sea, and the surrounding mountains. The rorbu suites maintain high standards, providing comfortable beds and generous space to enjoy pleasant moments with family and friends. Each rorbu suite has a quayside terrace where you can enjoy your morning coffee or savor a refreshing drink at sunset. The rorbu suites include 3 or 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a sauna, a fully equipped kitchen, a lovely dining area, and a cozy living room with a sofa group. 8 rorbu suites are available in Svolvær.

The historic houses have been skillfully renovated with competence and respect for the rich coastal cultural history they tell. All the houses are situated in the environment of the rorbus, forming a unity in the lively fishing village that is Svinøya. Each house tells its story in a unique way.

VÆREIERGÅRDEN IN 1828

Summer, winter, fall, and spring: The Væreiergården in Svinøya has withstood all seasons since 1828. The main building, nearly 200 years old, is offered for accommodation and events, thus constituting the very jewel of the “collection” of Svinøya Rorbuer.

VESTFJORD APARTMENTS

The Vestfjord Apartments are beautifully situated at the end of a peninsula on Svinøya, 350 meters from our main building with the reception and Børsen Spiseri restaurant. The building houses 6 units with a total of 16 sleeping places. You have free parking right outside. Breathtaking views of the sea and mountains stretch over the Vestfjorden, with a large communal terrace where you can enjoy the evening sun or experience storms. The apartments on the second floor have a private balcony. In the building, you will find: 2 apartments with two bedrooms, 1 apartment with one bedroom, 2 double rooms, and 1 studio (without sea view).

Dining

Børsen Spiseri

Svinøya Rorbuer is home to one of the most renowned restaurants in the Lofoten Islands. Børsen Spiseri is housed in an old quay dating back to 1828, and significant efforts have been made to preserve its original character. Most of the period elements have been retained here as well, creating an atmosphere infused with the scent of tar and rigging. Meat and fish-based dishes are offered. The menu changes with the seasons and the availability of ingredients.

L. Bergs Sønner has its fishing facility just 50 meters from our restaurant. This provides a significant advantage in terms of access to fresh fish, and the chefs can select the finest catch. Few restaurants can boast of having their own fishing facility.

When serving dishes like lutefisk, stockfish, dried fish, or fresh cod, it is with pride that they inform you that the fish is delivered by the fisherman, processed, treated with lye, or hung on the shelves and served – here at Svinøya.

Krambua

On the same quay, you’ll find Krambua, which is a small museum in itself. It houses old products and equipment from yesteryears, taking you a hundred years back in time! Feel free to enjoy an aperitif here before your meal or try our Fiskeværs meal, which includes a guided walk through the fishing village.
